Know the design of a vintage Coach wallet. Vintage Coach Wallets are mostly made with dark colors, such as black, brown and gray. They possess materials such as leather or fabric. Most of the vintage purses have a small, oval buckle at the front. You can analyze the design of vintage Coach Wallets online or at the Coach store.
Look for the Coach logo on the outside of the purse. Some of the authentic vintage Coach purses have the "C" logo design on the exterior. If the letter "C" is present, rather than the letter "G," then the purse is probably authentic. Some vintage Coach purses also have the Coach name on a leather tag that is attached to the zipper.
Analyze the zipper and stitching of the purse. All authentic vintage Coach Wallets are made with high-quality materials. Vintage Coach Bags have metal zippers with the letters "YKK" engraved on them. If the zipper is plastic, falling apart, or does not have the "YKK" engraving, then the purse is probably not authentic. If the stitching of the purse is uneven, then the purse is probably not authentic. Vintage Coach Wallets are either made with leather or fabric. If the material of the purse is falling apart, or the leather is very coarse, then the purse is probably fake.
Look for the serial number on the interior of the purse. It is usually located on a leather patch near the top part of the interior, close to the zipper. If the serial number is not present, or is not written neatly, then the purse is probably not authentic.
Examine the lining of the purse. All authentic vintage Coach Wallets have a durable signature lining. If the lining is ripped and extremely thin, then the purse is probably not authentic.
